Sorry about the downtime today

Recommended Posts

Sorry about the downtime today. Tried to do an upgrade due to there being a security issue with the current version. Unfortunately so many errors presented themselves I had to roll back to a backup.

It then still would not play ball as some CSS cache files would not load (causing a broken look on the pages).

Going through all my backups I found the broken files and restored them individually one-by-one.

All seems OK now - time for coffee :|

Will try an upgrade again in a few days, first need to work out why it failed.

About another 1.5 hour downtime again this morning (from 3am UK time) and managed to sort out all the problems.

The website is now upgraded and secure again.

If you were kicked off while I worked on it - I apologise.

No need to apologize and thank for that great place/forum.

Hi Mark
Since your last update I can't connect with Tapatalk anymore
I have the latest version installed on the server.
I'm writing this with Tapatalk on my phone.
All seems fine.
Are you on the latest app version?

Anybody else having problems with Tapatalk?

Hi again Mark.

I have :

1 - uninstalled and reinstalled Taptalk on both my Android Phone

2 - changed my password on watchrepairtalk

3 - tried to connect via Tapatalk

4 - failed with both phones

And no connection problems on the other forums via Tapatalk, only watchrepairtalk forum.

I even changed my email adress and password ... nothing worked

I really think the problem is with my account on this forum.

It's not a big problem as I still can connect with a computer but I'll be in vacation from 14/07 to 31/07 and I wont have access to a computer, only my phones.

So if you could try to see what's going wrong and solve the problem that would be really kind.

I've found that the specially tailored web interface for mobiles is so much better than Tapatalk, so I dropped the latter completely.

Faster, easier, full access to features and picture postings, no extra account needed. Thanks Invision developers.

Not easy to debug if I can't replicate your problem.
I will reinstall the plugin later and post when I've done this.
Tapatalk is a buggy piece of software and im getting tired of the malware aspect to be honest.
The IP board web interface is now very excellent so you do still have access via mobile.

If I create a new account and if it works on Tapatalk, do you think you can transfer my posts from the existing one to the new one ?

OK ... I've tried the IP board interface and it's OK

OK - I have completely deleted the Tapatalk plugin and re-installed.

Interestingly this broke my Tapatalk app and no threads would appear in the app on my phone. Closing and re-opening the app several times kicked it into shape and all seems well.

Give it another try if you can.

    • So here is the new base (v 2.1), I made it so that the base will fit over and swallow the stump of the hand pusher tool (or at least my clone of the tool), I also reduced the OD of the bottom skirt a little as it looked/felt a little large, here are a few pictures and the fake .pdf file which you need to convert to .zip once downloaded.   The cut-out seen on the below image on the bottom of the base should swallow the OD (40 mm, +0.1 mm tolerance) of the stump and the height of the stump 9.5mm (measured to 9.1mm, but rounded to 9.5mm) - let me know if this works for your tool.   Note, I think you may need to print supports for the new internal shelf created? • Hi Frank, you have dived headlong into the deep end. Hairspring work has to be the scariest thing a newbie has to tackle. Your hairspring appears to be bent and just putting it back into the regulator would not allow the balance to work properly. It might start oscillating but the performance would not be good. The proper thing to do is to unstud the hairspring, remove the hairspring from the balance, reinstall the hairspring on the stud carrier, reshape the endcurve and centre the collet to the balance jewel hole. This challenge would either make you or break you. Hope that you will be able to fix your watch. Welcome to the world of watchmaking.  Watch this video. It think it'll give you an idea of the task ahead. From your 1st photo, I think you have a etachron type stud. Let me see if I can find a video on how to remove it from the arm.
    • Have read of the Tech Sheet attached on the balance section page 12. It may be bent but until you reposition it back in the regulator pins you'll never know. Cheers CJ 4R35B_4R36A.pdf
    • Aloha All, My Seiko 4R35B movement stopped working today. Upon closer inspection, it looks like the balance spring came out of the regulator pin. This is my first time working on a balance. Any advice on how to get this spring repositioned (back to normal)? I'm pretty sure that while adjusting the beat error on this movement, I must have turned the stud (I didn't even know they turned), and the spring eventually fell out.  Will the spring go back to even spacing when it's back in the pin, or does it look bent? Thanks, Frank
    • Good job, that band matches the watch perfectly.
