One movement holder

This is the type I used. It is a star movement holder. Holds watch movements very well they won't slip out. It will not hold pocket watch movements. Never repaired timex, to cheap and crappy to repair.

I still have mine in a tool box.

Bergeon 4040 movement holder is among the best.

I was thinking this. Will it hold Timex M24 movement? I know, but i have a fondness for watches from my youth. :-)

Data
9.5 x 11.25''', Dm= 21.1 x 25.35mm
Do= 21.1 x 25.95mm
dimensions including dial spacers:
H= 4.1mm
F= 1.0mm
T= 2.0mm

Thanks!

That holder would work fine.. From 19,5 mm to 42 mm . Have two and they have served me well for years.

I have one as well and it’s good for most movements.

I have a few dedicated holders for Rolex movements and I recommend and prefer the dedicated ones.

Id like to get a 2824 and 2892 one as well (at least).

But for occasional use on various movements that’s a good choice. Just mind thebalance wheel before you crank it down... ask me how I know.

I use a case holder like this one because it allows room for the balance to swing freely.   Most times I just set the hands with a pair of tweezers.  If a pusher is needed I than have one favorite one which is double ended with fiber board tips.  each tip has been bored out to fit either the hour or minute hand respectively.

Feel free to reach out if you need any vintage Timex parts.  I do have a few laying around....

I have one of those with the adjustable Delrin feet... hate it.

A set of AF hand setters and I did the same thing- bored three out so I can set the hands flush with the pinion but not below. I’ll use a bit of Rodico to set small hands. Then press with the closest size tool.

    • Welcome to the forum, enjoy.
    • I dont like to give up things that i enjoy Tom.  So my next question is how are we going to prepare for that inevitability and what are we going to do about it. Its not just about funding it but I did pick up on something that Mark said once. It doesnt run on fresh air , what if it becomes a burden or an unnecessary cost or for any other reason that i wont get into. We all know life can change in an instant, my life has been so up and down for about 8 years and was only just beginning to level itself out.
    • What I especially like is that this forum is not full of ads. There are some but they're not interfering. No ads between posts like one certain big watch forum. Browsing is also very easy and light for a mobile device. I'm glad there's still room for old school forums like this. I'm a member in many facebook groups but there's really no long term discussion and if you see an interesting post you might never find it again if needed.
    • Hey, Nick! Thanks for sharing your beginning attempts in watch repair and welcome to WRT. I am familiar with the Citizen and the Sekonda. Likely the Citizen houses a Citizen cal. 8200A and the Sekonda a Poljot 2614.2H. I have serviced several of both and made a service walkthrough of the Citizen which you find if you click here. There's a lovely story about the Poljot movement on TimeZone.com called Jessica’s Cornavin Dolphin. Good luck!
    • A perfect example Hector, with the forum we would lose so much more My sentiments exactly Richard, i have experienced  that loss already,  Tiny, Gert, Galilea to name but a few all of which i enjoyed conversations with. I imagine it keeps a lot us sane OH.
