Bad serial number???

Recommended Posts

I have a Seiko with a 7s26 movement and I'd like to know the MFG date. Serial #747112. Model 7s26-8760  F. I've checked a couple of sites but they say it's invalid. I don't think it's a fake watch because I've been through the movement and it is definitely a Seiko. The dial has 7s26-021R at the bottom. Help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Like one of these? http://www.watchsleuth.com/seiko5finder/search/?MOD=7S26-8760

No need to check "calculators" to date a Seiko S/N.
First digit is the last digit of the manuf. year, the decade is decided according to the period during which the mov.t was manufactured, 1997 in your case.
Second digit (1-9 or O,N,D) is the month.
Last four digits the progressive.

Topic moved as it's not a repair question.
