Refitting back cover after battery change

Lorus watch  VX43 X092

prised off back cover without difficulty, fitted new battery but cannot replace cover. I notice depression on cover lip which seems to accommodate winder. Also an lip (about 2cm) protruding from cover lip. But no luck in refitting cover . (I did not need to twist cover to take off. I just put v thin flat driver under the protruding lip and it detached)

I still have a cover that will not snap back on. Tried every type of press.

The reason why certain snap backs can't be closed by hand is that the pressure must be uniform on the entire edge, not on the center. One can try improvising shaping two pieces of wood as dies in  a vice, but be careful, it is a matter of precision, not force.

Watch this video. I'm not sure whether it's the best available or not but it'll give you some sort of idea. from a bad experience, I suggest you don't try pressing too hard with no tool because you'll end up with a broken glass. In any case, the tool is less than $14 and well worth it and so much cheaper than going to a jeweler.

I got the rear cover refitted using the press tool. I went to my jeweller who did it for me, exactly as in the Video above. Thanks for all the advice on this issue. Hopefully anyone who has a problem refitting the cover will read this post and know that the best and safest, and perhaps the only, remedy is the press tool.

Thanks to all for your advice and help. It prevented me, among other things, from breaking the watch glass, and pointed me in the only sane direction.
