Servicing a Vintage Swiss Pocket Watch

Recommended Posts

Here are the disabled pieces. This watch was not running and had a bad case of too much dirt and old age. The watch also had a very slight bend in the face causing it to lift a bit by the second hand. I also had no space washers on the canon pinion hour gear, to prevent the face from pushing down on the gear. I added three small pieces of tape to form the needed gap. The jewel holes were all fine and the keyless winding mechanism was working well. 7081956522c20ec2f71019e9e7ce5d54.jpg1d838003bd33f5494b4e4e5dbb1dbf65.jpg22249666997787be7ba04010194b7f26.jpg298d6da648b01a245d5cf926afc08098.jpgbc8addee755a2266a2ea995ddcd5a32b.jpgfbbd9db26e01c86f56af5019c8e174fe.jpgc88696f796c57a73ac54da5f80b9f201.jpgf5ce761d72657af5679d487c62b9a339.jpgef1fe025d1fa51c3d2142cd6b0e52bff.jpg526335358b19a3ca97669b999645288a.jpg8f37a57c3a21b748ec9f2a81ba19f948.jpg

I had a heck of a time trying to get the cannon pinion back on. I tried with my usual tweezers buy it was pushing too hard on the center wheel and the plate. So i used a staking set so all the pressure was only through the center wheel shaft. It worked well.

First, not sure of the brand of this watch, but here are some markings.

The markings are for Adolph Schild usually movements are stamped A.S but sometimes A.S S.A the second shield mark is a Ebauches Trust mark these shield marks only appeared for a very short while,  possibly only in 1936 but I have read that they appeared on some watch movements as late as 1939 no one is really sure when they stopped using the mark, but your watch would date somewhere within that 3 year period.
