Smith Astral

Question

Picked up a Smiths Astral on fleabay, sold as "not running spares or repair" last week...

Popped the lid to have a look - surprisingly clean,

Under the dial was a slightly different story - the mainspring grease had leaked out and solidified

Hmm...something funny about the set lever spring...

Ah. Off to the internet to get a replacement, then...

Replacement arrives rusty, from a Reputable Dealer. Need to clean it up...

Can anybody tell me what sort of shock system this is?

...and after polishing the crystal it looks brand new, from the front at least!

I really like these watches, they have a really good quality movement. You have certainly done the watch justice, excellent work!
