Seagull movements

I have previously assembled a few watches for friends using ETA movements ending up with nice looking watches which work as required.

What is the opinion of the knowlegable people here of Seagull movements?

Does anyone have personal stories, horror or good, based on the usage of seagull, not just hearsay.

Am I going down the wrong route using cheaper movements?

I would be grateful for any advice from your experiences.

Thanks, Mike

I recently acquired a Chinese chronograph wristwatch with a Seagull TY 2903 movement.  The finish on the movement is excellent it is keeping 2 - 3 seconds a day. The complete watch new was £129, a Swiss watch with the same specification would cost many thousands of pound.  Do I like it..........no.........I love it!

Here is a photo of the graph with daily rate.

Nice Chrono Geo.

Alpha makes some very attractive homage pieces using the ST19 movement which is manufactured using the same tooling Venus used for the 175.  I don't think you can find a better deal for a mechanical chronograph and the movement is tried and true. :)
