ETA 2892 A2

Hello everyone,

I just got an ETA 2892 A2 automatic watch in for service and I have yet to work on one of these movements. I know its a co-axial escapment so is there anything I need to know about servicing this watch? Any special tools and is the co-axial escapment difficult to install? I know mark has made a video on this movement that i havent fully watched, but just wanted to know if this movement is easy to work on or if i should pass on servicing this due to it being a headache.

There is no need to oil the pallets. This type of escapement was invented by George Daniels

actually found out through the technical documents that it is not a co-axial escapement.

Yes. You should be fine with this one.

NB the 2892 based coaxial (2500A,B,C) does need oil on the escapement, the technical information outlines this quite clearly.. the 8500 series likely does not need oiling due to its silicon parts.

Oiling the 2500 escapement correctly does require a microscope..

I have to say, I didn't think there was anything special about the movement, apart  from the awful an to winding mechanism. 

The watch was pritty straight forward,  not cheap now a days either, and the price will only go up now that ETA have decided  to stop suppling them in the next few years.

It's made I know, I put one in a fake rolex, the case and the bracelet were so well made , that I couldn't  help myself.
