A friend of my father gave me this old pocketwatch to see if I could repare it.
As you see in the picture, the balance wheel is extremely bent. I tried to bend it back, but i cant make it good enough.
Does anyone know where I can find a balancewheel for this Revue 30 movement? I have tried to search around online, however, I cant find any.
Is there a generic balance that would fit in here?
The easiest thing to do with plates and bridges is to cement them to another larger brass plate, then center this in the faceplate. The centering can be checked with a wobble stick or optically with a scope.
Back in days of mechanical watches, the market for ETA was so huge that the brand couldn't have possibly done without producing variety of grades in Asia.
Production is Asia doesn't mean fake or replica, though inferior quality to swiss made ones of the same category . Most any low to mid range priced ETA is mixture of parts from different manufacturers, so where do you draw the line to distinguish between genuine ,Asian made etc.
Watchmaker got a solid point though, that shock spring .
