Is the crown and stem missing? Show us the final result.

Difficult to say from the ebay listing. At the least the crown is missing, but the stem may well also be gone.
I'll keep you all posted when I get a chance to work on it of course.

Smiths Deluxe.  I posted about the broken balance staff in the past but I didn't have the tools to replace it.  I offered a Smiths Astral movement for free to a man who specialises in Smith's. The case would of been gold and are nearly impossible to find.  In return he fixed the Deluxe for free, the strap is custom made.  He research the strap style, £15 not bad for a good quality one.

Blue Wednesday? My 1973  BULOVA JET STAR with the original wide stainless steel bracelet--I call "Chunky and Funky."

Love it. It's common to see the original brushed finish on this one polished to a mirror finish so it's great to see yours in all its original glory. I've got a Jet Star on to my 'To Be Serviced' pile. I haven't yet serviced a 11BSACB, any "gotchas"?

I overhauled this one at least five years ago, and am at the office right now. Have to look in my desktop files at home for the notes, but I don't think mine has the A. Schild movement...its a 23 jewel 11AOACB running at 21,600 bpm Very straightforward to strip down, only the day/date mechanism might be challenging since they're both instant quick set

If yours has a quickset for both the day and date then it would be the 11BSACB as the 11AOACB only had a quickset date. The tech sheet for the 11BSACB shows they recommend some kind of Bulova "holder" for the auto works when you are reassembling, so I was curious if you ran into any issues with that. It also says the friction pinion on the large driving wheel cannot be removed, so I was wondering how it would be cleaned/greased?

Today's watch, A Seiko 7009A from May 1981.

I started it at the weekend and just finished it last night after finding a stripped little plastic gear (see below at 10 o'clock on the gear outer teeth) on the calendar works which was giving me a 26 hour day before I discovered it was damaged (!!) I managed to replace the damaged gear with a metal version from a donor watch, I think everything else is original apart from the dial, the black one that came with the watch was an after market one with no dial feet and glued in place (?!?) and a new crystal. I would have tried to polish up the original crystal, but along with all the scratches there were some cracks.

Before and after pictures attached

You're absolutely right. I haven't much hobby time these days since starting MBA studies. The Bulova 11BSACB was last overhauled in June of 2015.

A very rare 1289 DW-069 I purchased it in 2001 in Osaka, Japan. I think I remember the sales guy saying that this particular model was not sold outside of Japan, but I could be wrong (with language barrier, it could be a misunderstanding). 22 year old watch and I'm still rocking it! Still looks as good as it did then and still on the original strap with dragon motif. Extra dragon seen in the lume.

    • people be honest.... Swatch is evil for the watchmakers and repairers, BUT not everything in watches from Switzerland is from the Swatch-Group. As far as i know, Selitta got sacked by Swatch as a Movement-Assembler for them and they started to produce Movements in their own Name with slight Modifications. As far as i know, they sell Parts to the Market for their Movements. In most cases, if a ETA-Movement fails, it is a valid Option to replace it with a Selitta Movement, which i consider the Solution for this Mess with the Swatch-Group...... I have no Connection to anybody at Selitta, but being a Swiss-Guy, i still like to have Swiss-Made Watches, but not from the Swatch-Group.   ok ? regards, Ernst
    • Just one more greedy act by Swatch. They started a number of years ago here in the US..cutting off supplies to watchmakers that could build complications that many Swatch houses couldn't even touch. Old school masters who had gone through some of the most prestigious houses in the world. Otto Frei has some statements on their page about it. I tell all my customers to avoid new Swiss watches like the plague,..unless they just want an older one in their collection that still has some parts out on the market, or they have really deep pockets and don't mind waiting months and paying through the nose to get it back. Plenty of others to choose from..IE Seiko,..or other non-swiss brands Even a number of Chinese brands are catching up with the Swiss,..and I think that in time, their actions will be their downfall
    • Yes. If that's not what you are experiencing...start looking for something rubbing. A 1st guess is that one of the hands is rubbing against the hole in the center of the dial. Especially if you now have lower amplitude in face up/ face down positions.
    • Once a movement has the dial and hands put back and it is recased, would you expect the assembled watch to have the same amplitude as when the movement is in a movement holder and is without hands and dial? Thanks
    • C07641+ not sure what the "+" is for after the last digit.
