Cracked Screen

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

I have a TomTom Multisport GPS Watch and my screen got cracked recently. I was wondering if I can get some help in sealing/repairing the screen. It's a triatholon watch so it's very important that the watch is waterproof and I don't believe it is right now in its damaged state. I attached a couple photos showing the damage. Thanks much!

Being such a specialist piece of kit, I think that the only way to sort it reliably would be to return it to the manufacturer, especially if you are going to be using it for competition

@geo the company said that they can't do anything about it since they don't have a repair shop for watches and also my 90 day warranty is up @bobm12 thanks for posting the video but i'm not sure if that'll work, the company said that they cant send spare parts for me to repair the watch myself. Plus it's made up differently.

Sorry to hear that. I believe, since you have tried your best and the next step could be to replace your tomtom with a new one, you can now experiment with the broken one! I haven't gone through the following links completely but they may give you an idea of how your tomtom was put together and more (it is no different than a cell in many ways), since changing the screen is out of the question, you can try to glue it together. For that last part check the 3rd link for an appropriate transparent glue. Hope this works!

I'm not familiar with the different sport disciplines in this thread but as a martial artist, swimming and gun enthusiast -- could that qualify for triathlon? -- I appreciate what you guys are doing and admire that. Please, keep us informed on the outcome!

we are close there Robert, I did Judo for 20 years back in the day! I then went nearly 20 years without so much as getting out of breath before I found triathlon. Once back into sport it made me realise how out in the wilderness i'd been for that 20 years. I'm happier now than I've ever been!

I know what you mean Lee, I've been missing my gym for about 6 months now and I can feel the difference. I have a commitment to start in the following weeks and before my birthday!

I did judo too, then I switched to karate. Years down the line -- and some yoga later -- I found a 2nd generation master from IP Man that kept Wing Chun (a kung-fu style) traditional and also studied the art. Then, I found taekwondo where I graduated from kukiwon in korea. Right now I'm working on hapkido, a version of aikido and somehow similar to judo since the roots are from jujitsu, all three of them (full circle?). I find that hapkido is more combative. In any case, since my oldest daughter started to go to college I have missed many classes since we used to go together (my two daughters and me) to the Korean martial arts classes (they also have a black belt). In my book, anything you do with your kids is something to be treasured. There is going to be a time where you won't be able to do it! So, there you have it, my love for sports, in a nutshell...Sometimes I watch the football too though!

The manufacturer said they cannot fix it? That's outrageous!

The bad news is that even if you have a watch glass manufacturer make you a new glass the watch would never be water resistant again as you will not get a good seal and the other issue is that the word "TomTom" and a black border looks to be printed on the underside of the glass.

Have you contacted the TomTom manufacturer head office? Surely they must have a service department that handles this kind of thing - it's not cheap kit after all.

I know right. I called their customer support line.

Not sure if they outsource the customer support lines.

Try writing to their head office.
