Building My New Watch Repair Workshop.

Nice job, Mark - definitely droolworthy! And you sure do have a nice, extensive collection of tools and equipment.

I always remember something that my Dad told me a LONG time ago, about buying cheap tools:

"The quality is remembered long after the cost is forgotten".

Good advice, I reckon. :)

Thought I would give it a test run today. The height of the bench is perfect for me - no more bent back, this is really good.

Unfortunately it feels very strange not working on a bergeon work mat, in fact it feels like i'm doing something naughty! New one on order :)

Here's a couple more pics:

I could prolly increase the light in the room by another 20% when I clean all the dust off the windows :D

Hi I just watched (no pun intendeed) your new work place - superb! I am sure that many of us will like you less from now on because of that bright and cool place. I am getting ready to arrange my better work place so I am sure to still some of your ideas.

Regards

(from Australia)

ps. DO not worry about the dust on the windows - it just adds necessary patina to the workshop. :-)

Ciao

Micky,

I managed to find this company which specialise in retail shop outfitting:

http://www.morland-uk.com/shop/shop-fit-out/laminate-sheets/egger-hpl-laminate-u628st15.html

It's expensive stuff but I think it's worth it.

There are many Youtube videos showing how to apply it using contact adhesive.

Well I have finally got the date for when we can move back into our much larger premises, and thought it time to order a roll of this covering so I can start my refurb of workspace. Sadly however, the company doesn't ship outside of the UK :(  The only option when I filled out the order forum, was UK.

I have emailed them, and also found another UK supplier who offers the same sized roll, I emailed them too, so now just need to wait.  If they don't ship here, I may ask one of you good UK guys to tranship to me if possible.  Of course I will cover shipping, plus some beer tokens :)

If I can help out just let me know. :)

Thanks G, will let you know, as I have now also emailed another company in the Nordic region, Denmark who also sell this covering, I will give them a few days, and if they don't get back to me, I will call on your assistance :)

    • Yup watchie you are entirely on my wavelength with this , you actually said what i was hinting at, what if something happens to mark ? Will someone be able to take over ? Its not that long ago that the forum was down and Mark had to step in and fix it. And you are right a wealth of information that does not exist as a whole anywhere on the planet will be lost. Can that be archived elsewhere?
    • Hopefully if the issue is running costs, Mark would let us know and suggest ways of raising finance. If it's the other issue, which we are skirting around, sites can be passed onto others.   PS because I know you're all interested, I  had a bacon and mushroom sandwich for breakfast.  Hehe.
    • Thank you for your introduction and welcome to this friendly forum. We all look forward to your contributions and continued involvement.
    • Hello Nosh and welcome to the forum.   Enjoy
    • Hi guys, the question is what is a forum, a place for discussion and passing on information, idle chat and a bit of fun and I for one are the richer for it. When in Hospital last year with the Covid being force fed oxygen and feeling total sh1t and close to the pearly gates a daily look on the forum to see what was going down helped to keep me focused on the job in hand took my mind off the problem for a short while but it was a lifeline for sure. We chat to friends for that is what they become around the world read their posts help where we can post information where we can.  I like @Neverenoughwatches some times think of members past and wonder if they are still at the watches or given up, some drop in for advise and drop out again never to be heard of again. The forum reminds me of Yorkshire hospitality, The door is always open and the kettle on the stove. Long may it continue.   My two bobs worth.
