Hello everybody from the Netherlands!

Hello everybody, my name is Warner, I'm 28 years old and I live in the Netherlands. I've recently come across the Watchrepairchannel on youtube and I was intrigued. I've always liked watches, my first "serious" one was a Seiko kinetic Arctura, give to me by my dad. I own a few of these now, and replaced all the capacitors with some help of youtube videos, and this is how it started.

I wanted to know more, bought some pretty decent tools (most of them from the German Beco Technic) and started taking apart an old Seiko 7S26 movement, cleaned all the components in an ultrasonic cleaner. The putting back together is not going so well, because I damaged the main spring trying to get it in by hand. Any tips?

Hopefully we can all learn from Mark and eachother, and off course show of some of our achievements.

By the way, I just acquired a real nice Fortis B42 diver, which I will not be taking apart :)

welcome to the main spring forum.  you may not of damaged the spring.  can't expect to get it right the first time without a book.  there are many posts on this site "discussing"  the proper method of installing the spring into the spring barrel. BUT  good show,  a good start  to a great hobby.  vinn

Welcome Warmik and don't get discouraged by a small setback. We can't expect success the first time we try something. :startle:I'm thinking you would almost have to try to bend a mainspring while refitting, not that it couldn't be done. you may want to check some of the vids/book on subject. You did not say what issue you were having with the 7S, perhaps spring slipped off arbor, inside the barrel, it can happen. Fortis is a nice watch too, good luck and provide update on the Seiko.
