Magnetism

Hi everyone,

I am looking for some general advice about magnetisation of movements, tools etc. What equipment is essential, which measures need to be taken to avoid it.

Any tips or advice are greatly appreciated.

Joe.

You can buy anti magnetic tools but it is no big deal. Just get yourself one of these. If you use this before taking the watch apart you will avoid getting such tools as screwdrivers and tweezers magnetized.

Excellent. And I think you answered my next question too. Are those cheap demagnetisers ok? I have couple of screwdrivers and some tweezers that have been magnetised so if I can solve that for £6 then I'm happy.

There is an other thread about this topic as well. You can use Your android phone for measuring magnetized parts ;)
