Cross Threaded

Is it gold or steel?

If gold it can be done, if steel it'll be a hard job.

Also have you tried ultra sonicing the case to clear away any dirt in the thread? I've found this to work some miracles on watches I thought to be cross threaded.

To fix a cross threaded thread a jeweler will need to repair it.  Old school ones are the best for this, but they are really hard to source.

Thank you for your reply. It's a steel case and the thread is completely gone. The caseback simply falls off. I need someone that will add steel (laser) and rethread the midcase. Not to bothered with the caseback as I have another one.

Where do I find a watch maker that does it and what would a reasonable price be?

Hm, I don't see that job being less than £300 to do. It sounds serious.

None of the jewelers I use would be able to do that.

Some jewelers at hatton garden in london do some good jobs with laser welding, but I would not be able to tell you who'd be trust worthy as their are alot of rogues in that area.

I came across this site in the past, and they say they do that sort of repair.

But I don't know if they are legit.
