Yes, I know, I made a rookie error through inattention. But then, I am a rookie and I guess this is how we learn. I just wish I could have made this particular rookie error on one of my $10 Russian watches. I don't have a truing caliper. That might have to be my next tool purchase. If it has been distorted, is it possible to return this kind of balance to true? Thanks all for the encouragement. Glen

I did one of these a couple of months ago. When installing the day disc, you have to apply some downwards pressure while rotating the disc to seat it completely and engage the day detent spring. To confirm that it has seated properly, if the day disc is rotated with a wood stick, it should snap to the next position. -

Well, there is a hole on the day wheel that is small, but still You can position it as to observe if the small wheel with 2 paws rotates or no. Does it rotate? -

If you are looking for someone in the U.S. who can make the minute wheel and replace the jewel, Matt Henning is excellent. For more info on the movement, post it over at the NAWCC forum on complicated watches. Rjenkins has narrowed it to a Patek related movement, but someone made the base (LeCoultre, etc.).
