Matching microscope Camera view to eyepiece view is it possible

Recommended Posts

Hi all

Just wondering on this question.

I use one of the generic simulfocus trinocular microscope, similar to the Amscope versions, mine is a Relife.  It's fitted with the usual 0.5 Barlow lens to improve working hight and came with a 0.5 camera adapter, I am also using  Relife 4k camera.

Everything is working well, but one thing bugs me a little and that is the camera view is not even close to the eyepiece view.  For example with the microscope at its highest setting I can see a little more than a pocket watch movement but the camera only sees around 2 thirds of the movement.  I did try changing the camera adapter to a 0.35 one but that made negligible difference.

Is there a way to improve on the area the camera sees to come close to what the eyepiece sees, or is that standard for these scopes.

Thanks for any input on this.

Paul.

I believe this is being semi-actively discussed in the stereo microscope thread. Current lead on that seems to be an SLR camera for the larger sensor area. Problem from my angle is matching eyepiece magnification beyond the standard 10x.

My experience is similar to yours (except I'm using a 0.35X C-mount adapter between the camera and microscope). So far it's good enough for my needs, but it would be ideal to have like for like (or as close as possible going from a round to rectangular view). If you're interested, I posted some comparison photos in this thread: https://www.watchrepairtalk.com/topic/294-stereo-microscope/?do=findComment&comment=271387
