Hello all,

I am brand new to watches and was working on my first disassembly and reassembly on an ST36. I ran into an issue with my escape wheel and I'm pretty sure I broke it when I was taking it out. I've attached a photo here. If it is broken, where do you all usually get replacement parts. I see sites like ebay or alibaba but wanted to get your opinion. Thanks in advance!

Luke

Welcome to the forum.

Yes it's broken and I don't think you'll be able to find replacement parts as the cost makes it more viable just to get another movement.

If you're just learning then that's probably you best option then you've got another complete movement to practice with.

Hi and welcome - Congratulations on your first part break, which won't be your last! For an ST36, you can get the replacement part from Aliexpress or probably ebay individually, but doing so may cost you at least half the price of an entire movement. Since this is your first one, I would just suggest you buy an entire spare ST36 movement because you may yet break or lose more parts.

All of us spend lots of time mostly on ebay to find replacement parts and donor movements when working on watches - you'll get very comfortable with the process eventually.
