Here of late, I am running a real Mickey Mouse Operation!!

After fixing a MM watch broken case with a donor, I have an extra movement left over with no case.  So I had this crazy idea to make a MM case.  Lots of details to work out, but here is the early stage.  I don't know if I want to make it a pendant watch, or put it on a stand.  That is TBD.

One challenging issue is how to make the bezel and attach it firmly.  3D printing has its limitations.

Something in metal with one of your several lathes?

I'm currently working on a custom Mickey Mouse case project that I got from a recent repair. I used a donor to repair the case of my broken MM watch and I had an extra movement and the case was gone. This gave us the idea to design a custom Mickey Mouse case, but there are still many details to consider in the early stages. Whether it will be a pendant watch or a grand clock is yet to be decided. One of the challenges I face is finding a good way to manufacture and securely attach the bezel given the limitations of 3D printing.

Not into Mickey Mouse or Mickey Mouse watches but that's cool.

Me either really, but I had to fix a watch for a friend and needed a donor.  Got a lot of five MMs in the deal.  Had an orphaned movement.

    • Hi, the cylinder is broken and I want to try to fix it. I don't have any specific tools, so how can I solve the problem? A new plataform or just the movement/pinion?
    • Personally i like to collect old iconic watches, so many made famous by films etc. Or unusual designs. That doesn't especially make them a great watch just a theme of collecting. You've mentioned the Willard, how about a genuine A 11 military watch.  Another iconic Seiko would be the Pogue space watch.  A Citizen bullhead ?.  A grand might even get you a Dirty Dozen, i dont know the availability of these in the US though, an A 11 is more appropriate for your country. Pre Swatch Omega Tissot or Longines , like Richard I'm not a fan of Swatch.
    • Sorry to repeat my question @316lad, but I'm really curious if you could elaborate on why you describe the movement as "a bit of rubbish". My main interest in watches is precisely their movements and so far I have a somewhat limited experience of the ETA movements and that is why I am so curious.  Thanks! 👍
    • Come on members please keep it friendly.  We all try to help. Just think before you start typing.  For what its worth I still say it is a fake the engraving on the back of the case is very amateurish a single word has different size lettering.
    • Looked up images of natural scenery of quetico park on internet, beautyyyful indeed, I guess no space left for spiders as the place must be crowded with tourists. LWS, we expect to see bigger catch on your future visits.
