Timex Mickey Mouse Watch repair

Recommended Posts

This came from a friend (like all of my other repairs!!).  Missing a crystal and did not run.

My first attempt was to soak it in one-dip, but that did nothing to get it going.  So, what the heck...disassemble and clean the normal way.

That is more or less what I did with the exception of the plate with the balance.  I just put that back in the one dip while running the rest of the movement through the L&R.

I removed and cleaned the mainspring.  Oiled and reassembled the barrel.

Expecting and tedious effort to get the train wheels between the two plates, I mentally prepared myself.  Surprised to find that I did it in about 10 minutes.

Oiled everything, wound it up and off Mickey went!!

I'm rather fond of the rescue of these economical movements...then again I also appreciate the reward for catching the smallest fish...

Time to finish it off with an Italian leather strap? 😅 It will have to be custom I suspect given the watch size...

Crap! I shoulda seen that!!  The dial tabs are really strong and difficult to bend back.  Well, that is why I am here...to stand on the shoulders of giants!  Thanks

But, there are some where you only have the 4 tabs.  crazy I know!
