Replacement cap jewel - fontainemelon

Recommended Posts

The movement is off a 1914 trench watch and is a Fontainemelon 13 ligne movement. The bottom cap jewel is broken as can be seen in the poor quality attachment.

Are these jewels rubbed in or installed in a different way? I have another 13 ligne FHF which is one model further along and it also has a cracked cap jewel.

There is what appears to be the same main plate with cap jewel for sale on eBay but other replacement parts from seemingly identical movements have had to be tweaked to fit - e.g. I had to modify the setting lever screw on the lathe even though the setting lever was identical between the two movements.
