Case screw for a really nice pocket watch

Recommended Posts

Hi, I am restoring my first pocket watch that has turned out to be a really nice Longines. Unfortunately I have one of the case screws missing and wondered if anyone could help me out with something. I have searched eBay but cannot find anything and I want to avoid buying 100 case screws from Cousins at a high cost when I just need the one. I've attached a little drawing of the screw (1.05 mm across the threads). I can always shorten if too long. Happy to pay something for the screw and someone's time if anyone has one. Thanks in advance.

I'll have a look for you.  Does the dial say Bradford?

Thank you, yes the dial says J.H. Weeks, Bradford. It did have the remnants of the LONGINES name above the small seconds dial but that is sadly now gone. That's the last time I listen to anyone that says an enamel dial can be cleaned with water. Not to fussed about that though as it still has the LONGINES 19.71 movement inside.

Bradford is my birth city.  Cool.

Deal buster, can't send anything to a lancastrian! Hehe.  Are you sure of the size   seems very large.  I've had a quick look and have some similar, remeasure and I'll send you a selection.

The screws seem to be either 1 or 1.1mm.

Hi Richard, the size is correct as drawn. 2.7mm head diameter, 4.4mm total length including the head and 1.05mm diameter for the threaded part, including the threads. I'm not proud I will accept a kind offer from a Yorkshire man. If you find one then let me know. Thanks again, Steve.

Let me measure the diameter of the case screw again (the threaded part) and get back to you.

I remeasured and it's definitely 1.05mm.

If anything, the screw feels a bit loose in the hole so a 1.1 mm might possibly fit OK if you don't have. 1.05 mm.
