Hi folks! I happened upon this website in search of advice about my old Ansonia wall clock. The model was patented June 18, 1888. It runs OK except when striking the hour or half hour; it often continues to strike for the subsequent half-hour position, and sometimes for the two subsequent positions. For example, at 10 o’clock it has gonged 22 times. I welcome any suggestions as to the cause and how to correct it. Thank you very much. There was a time when it would not run but for a few seconds or a few minutes. I eventually realized that it was sitting at a slight angle to the upright position. With my level, I found that the wall itself was slightly slanted. To remedy the situation, I slipped a brochure in between the wall and the support on which the clock rests. It did the trick.
