The Pleasure Of Meeting A Forum Member

Recommended Posts

I drove up to Derbyshire today and, by prior arrangement, met up with forum member GarethS - and a great pleasure it was.

We chatted for an hour and compared watches - I'd brought up some RR pocket watches to show, and I was mightily impressed with a lovely Longines of Gareths.

Nice place - Buxton; good bloke - Gareth; great watches - both of us!

Must do it more often!

I did say good morning to you in another thread Geo, The dawn chorus gets me up this time of year ! Who ever said the country side was peaceful obviously lived in a town. :)  Yes I can see it would be difficult to organize but it could be done if enough people were keen!

Has anyone thought about organising a 'Watch Weekend' practical seminar?

An experienced member who is prepared, for a fee, to host a small group of members who put up locally and bring one or two projects with them to present to the group and receive the benefit of assistance and advice.

Does anything like this already exist? If so, we might arrange a block booking for WRT.

    • @Murks the problem you have mate is most watch cases out there to buy are for Seiko NH3X, ETA 2824 and maybe Myota 8XXX movements, oh also the big ETA 6978/9 movements which the dials start around 28.5mm. You might find one on a Google search but I suspect your main chance will be buying cheap quartz ladies watches and hopefully find one of the right size and condition that is acceptable. 😞   Tom
    • The anchor pin should be perpendicular when the anchor is sat on a flat surface and if you post a close up picture of the backplate I will be able to tell you the correct torsion spring , running fast or slow is usually wrong Torsion spring. Here is a video from my YouTube channel showing how I set the beat
    • I think if you want to play Billy big b.ollocks then you have to have something up your sleeve, anyone that knows how to fight, plays dirty. Lets face it a lot of folk that voted for Brexit just rolled uk their sleeves to say up yours EU hoping for good changes. We have idiots for leaders and probably none of them clever enough to clean the shitty stick they were given. I didnt vote, what will be will be. You've signed up to another forum !!! Why you defector , you snake in the grass, you infidel consider yourself shunned.... you.......you........you CAD  😅😅😅😅😅😅🤪
    • I voted leave too, my reasoning was the the EU is undemocratic, no elected officials. I don't regret it but I  am sad that both sides acted like petulant toddlers.  Shameful.  I'm not on other forums but if I was and left this site, would you shun me? Of course not, we aren't petulant toddlers.
    • This is a type of tool that may be suitable to remove the bezel - though note that I'm pretty sure the watch should be face down - not face up, as in some of the photos of these tools on amazon & ebay! If you try one one of those, put the movement screws back in first to avoid accidents. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Removal-Professional-Remover-Watchmaker-Diameter/dp/B09XCH4QVN?source=ps-sl-shoppingads-lpcontext&ref_=fplfs&smid=A296NCMMFVXSDN&th=1
