Orient 47848 and 48743 barrel, INTERESTING

Recommended Posts

Hi, I thought I would share as I could not find this information posted anywhere. I am cleaning and lubricating the barrel of an Orient 48748 movement so I decided to take some dimensions. Interestingly the barrel and arbor are identical in every way to that of a Seiko 7005. Mainspring measures 0.95 x 0.124 x 380 (bridle 0.19mm thick) equivalent GR spring should be GR2379X

Lubrication inside the barrel seemed to be semi dry carbon particles. Maybe the oily part dried up and left the carbon, not sure.

Hope it helps.

More likely graphite loaded grease like Moebius 8207, 8301, 8302, Seiko S4, may be others.

an 7005 barrel is the same

and pallet fork and balance

The barrel is the same as 7005, not sure about the pallet fork and balance. The balance looks different as it has three spokes. If I get chance I will compare.

Example 7s26 A/B is same on the balance 7s26 C is diferent

As I have often mentioned. One can refer to the sheet that I maintain to see what are the differences between 7S26 revisions, all parts are covered.
