Help Identifying a Quartz Patel Philippe

Recommended Posts

Hi all!

My friend just gave me this watch he had laying in a cabinet for years. I haven't really worked on many quartz movements and wanted to gather information on this before I jump in. However, I'm having trouble identifying it.

The case back is engraved:

F.D. Co.

H. K. Case X Dial

Japan Movt.

Made in Hong Kong

Movt. Engraving:

96800

Akita LTD.

Japan

I can't find any other watches with Akita movements. Plus, the movement itself isn't very pretty, not what I would expect from a company like PP. Did they ever put out a lower end watch like this? I was thinking it's a bad replica, but wanted to make sure.

Thanks for the help.

Yes. Very clearly not a Patek Philippe; more Patrick Philip. But at least they put 'JAPAN MOVT' loud and clear on the dial.

And you're right that does look like 96800 doesn't it?! But I think you'll find it's 9GB00. So do a search for 'Akita 9GB00' and you should have better luck finding some info / a replacement.
