Maybe one of the reasons we think of it as the levin book is it relates to Lathe's. Like for instance at the link below interesting company name isn't it?. The link takes you to their history pages it's an interesting read. At the bottom of the second page is a reference to the book. The first school that I went to for watch repair had two of the lathes. Which is probably why I think of the book associated with the author and their lathes.
