Quartz movement will not run

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I just replaced the battery in a VD53B quartz movement. The watch has been sitting for maybe 2 years. I had removed the battery shortly after it stopped running to prevent damage inside and have just gotten around to putting in a new battery.  After the installation I shorted the "AC" and the + of the battery as instructed but the watch will not run. The chronograph portion runs and calibrates to zero just fine but the main function of the watch will not run. Am I missing something or could the movement be done?

Thank you in advance for tips and advice.

Hi There are many things that can stop a watch even a quartz one, congealed oil, dirty oil,  dirt,  coil u/s  circuit block u/s.  you need to verify that the watch is pulsing and the coil is good, but to do this you need tools. and as the replacement movement cost is around the £15 mark  from cousins uk watch parts, It is probably cheaper and quicker to change the movement complete.

attached id the tech sheet for the VD53a and B
