Is it me or is this just a little optimistic?

Recommended Posts

I know that "Double Red" Sea Dwellers are super rare and super collectible but given the state of this dial is this just a little on the optimistic side?

Describing it as "damaged" seems to be a little bit of an understatement, and given the total lack of red paint (and almost total lack of any paint) it's hard to see how the claim to be a "Double Red" can be substantiated.

I'm absolutely no Rolex officionado so maybe those in the know could shed a little light on how this piece of mangled train wreck debris is able to claim that it is what it says it is, let alone how, given its condition, it could possible be worth anything at all....

I just noticed that the same seller has a bezel for the same up for a starting price of £242, and a somewhat brutalised date ring for a rather more reasonable 99p.

There is no way to confirm that dial was a red letter dial. Visit doubleredseadweller and check the remaining text- you may just prove it's NOT a red dial... I'm not inclined to waste my time on that research.

It is a genuine dial however, and could be reprinted.

But, a reprinted genuine dial is worth about as much as a reproduction dial- about what he's asking now. Trouble is, you'd still be on the hook for the reprinting costs, just to lose the cost of the dial reprinting work.

Waste of time all together.
