Mail-In Watch Repair businesses (USA)

Recommended Posts

I suspect that a lot of watch repair shops even those without Internet presence would probably do mail-order watch repair. Then it would probably help to know what kind of watch you have because a lot of shops specialize.

Here is a shop in Seattle it has a really good reputation and I notice they do have a form to fill out online before sending your watch is so obviously they do mail-order business.

Then there are things like associations that list people at do watch repair But you probably have to reach out to them the CF they do mail order work but I would think most people today probably do.

So the watches I need to get serviced are from Orient. I just contacted Nesbit's watch Service about them and they had to decline the service because of potential lack of parts.

At least they gave you an answer as opposed to taking your watches and having them disappear into a black hole claiming they can get parts for you.

One of the major problems in watch repair is finding parts. If you look at their website they mainly specialize or at least appear to specialize in high-end Swiss watches.

Then out of curiosity do your watches from the Orient have a name on them?

"Orient"

This name has come up before in the discussion group I think even a walk-through was done with one of them. This sort of kind of like Seiko it except they'd totally lack any serious technical support. In the way of parts lists service manuals are almost nonexistent. There are spare parts out there at least are listed on the sites that I'm currently looking at so some parts are available if you're lucky.

Then in the USA they even have a website and if you look out pathetic it is this is where you go to request service. It doesn't really jump off the website to get here either.

If I were a professional I would have no problem servicing watches for which parts are difficult or even impossible to obtain.

Just advise the customer of that possibility and establish a reasonable fee to be paid anyway in case the watch has to be returned in the same state as received, with a clear explanation of why the work couldn't be completed.
