Watchmaker's Bench Restoration

Recommended Posts

I was working on stripping and staining another piece of furniture this weekend and decided to start on the watchmaker's bench. After using the stripper and sanding for about 30 minutes it's looking pretty good. I still have to fix the joints that have started to separated but it should turn out great.

I like it! Great job.

How long have you had it?

Still quite a bit of work left. I need to glue up the sides to make it more secure, fix two drawers, install new rails for the slide out catch tray, stain, varnish and install the trim along the back and sides like it had originally. There was also a foot rest I've seen on some that I might add and it would help make it a little more rigid.

I bought it a few weeks ago when I found a K&D 18-R Staking Set on Craigslist for $75 and the lady was also selling her fathers old bench.
