What book?

Hi

So I have just started looking into watch mechanisms etc, which single book would other recommend as a source for all things Horology (watch department, we can try clocks later) showing strip downs rebuilds and just about every aspect of the craft?

Hi  Henry fried's book The watch repairers manual around the £20 mark, Or Donald De Carles Practical watch repairing    both good informative must have books.

another good book especially if you get one of the earlier editions is The Swiss Watch Repairer's Manual  By Hans Jendritzki

Watchmaking by George Daniels.  A bit pricey but one could argue it's more valuable than a watch.

I actually have the Daniels book, a gift from my wife and the Fried Book. I enjoy both but I agree the Daniels book is a bit special.

I've been heating up my library card lately, and have read a few of those mentioned above.  All good recommendations.  Sounds like you have one of the best already, then.

The De Carle and Fried books are ok but a bit out of date with modern practices.. I'd suggest one of those books might be great as a later addition - if you're wanting to expand your mind a little.. but you might as well start with the best at a time when you've yet to learn habbits.

The Joseph Bulova School of Watchmaking is also alright, and possibly available for free download with some searching.

The Daniels book is great but more focused on making a watch than servicing them - so there's some information missing, and other information you won't need for most watch related jobs you're likely to encounter or take on.
