Seiko 7002

Bought this off Ebay before Christmas but I've been too busy and haven't had a chance to get into it yet. According to the serial number it's 22 years old. It was only £28 which isn't bad compared to what I've seen them go for on Ebay. It runs but not for long so I'm hoping it just needs a service. Got some free time tonight so going to disassemble and clean it.

Exactly! It's my first Seiko, looks pretty simple and crude in there but I guess that's why there must run for a long time without being serviced.

Good tough watch. Like them so much that I have 3 (at present). Simple to service, most parts readily available. The dial is after-market (probably the hands & bezel too) as it should read '17 Jewels' under the 'water 150m resist' line, but its very hard & expensive to find an all original these days, for £28 you have yourself a bargain.

Thanks, the hands and dial are definitely different ages, the dial must be a lot older because the lume is very dull but the hands are bright.

Got it all in bits and cleaned, the rotor bearing seems to have quite a bit of play but not so much to cause the rotor to touch the movement. The centre wheel was hard to turn, hoping it's just because it was pretty cruddy. Should have the time to start reassembling it on Friday.
