2824 clone? Not really

Recommended Posts

If that was a Chinese copy I wouldn't be surprised, I have found that even the same mov't from different factories has differences.
But this is about a Sellita SW200 auto bridge on top of the ETA. The screw position is slightly offset, so it can't be used. I suspect that there are many more small differences made to make parts not interchangeable.

I was under the impression that the patent on the 2824 movement had long expired so there shouldn't be any legal reasons  not or make exact copies. I'd be more inclined to think it's either a clone not following spec 100% or a deliberate alteration to make clone parts not interchangeable.
