Using A De-Magnetizer On Quartz Movements

When I first started messing with watches I had a load of old quartz movements.

Wondering why things always 'stuck' together or to my tweezers/screwdrivers, I came to the conclusion that it was because the rotor was strongly magnetic, and not realising it had to be, as it is in fact part of a 'motor' !!!!

In my ignorance, I tried to demagnetize the rotor without any success despite many attempts.

This is because it is a 'permanent' magnet which is made of material that will not demagnetise readily.

Demagnetising a quartz watch is unlikely to affect the rotor/motor but may affect the electronics (I don't know for sure).

Many movements are also mostly made from plastic so not magnetised.

Same conclusion, do not demag, but for different reasons!!
