Today was the second of 3 annual antique shows in Mt. Dora, Florida. The weather was gorgeous and the prices were right! And yes,  I know,  I have a little problem... im sure many of you can relate to that problem,  lol. Most were Timex's, with a few misc brands.  The lucerne chronograph will be challenging to say the least,  it has definite issues. These span close to 40 years,  50s, 60s, 70s and 80s. Should be fun getting these going again.  @JerseyMo... I'll be putting a shopping list together for you shortly:D

The prices of these were fantastic, none except the lucerne were over $10 each, must were under $5 each!20200118_182536.thumb.jpg.71f9252c158dcf834c51f10a20c27d8a.jpg20200118_182554.thumb.jpg.f17ddf53a1507e051ac5a72588583e22.jpg20200118_182600.thumb.jpg.979d5d104b3f90e5ee9bbfbaa680c114.jpg20200118_182608.thumb.jpg.a5c8504f41f93b4719ff0ce6a75fd33d.jpg20200118_182611.thumb.jpg.9de729dde456352290d8111350842f02.jpg20200118_182728.thumb.jpg.d0212b8eec703b64f9f9c42c717ab5ba.jpg

fantastic haul.

Awesome day all around.  Hardest part was deciding what to get and what not to get,  so much to choose from. My youngest child had a skeleton key groove going on today. I got her a chain so she could wear a couple around her neck.

Well  what a haul was Mrs with you or has she given you up as a hopless case, did you have enough room in the car for them all.:D

My pockets were bulging,  lol. The Mrs. Didn't come along.  Antiques and watches are not her thing,  which is probably a good thing, the less she knows,  the better!:D

. What model is the  one from 1958?

the white dial self wind is from 1958 and the model is named 'Viscount'   they aslo came with a black dial and most f the old Timex forum members consider those a grail watch.   Yes, and no need to askas I do have two of them.

BTW, the movement is a model 29.

One each of the black and white dial I'm guessing?  Though I did see one with gold tone numbers and hands on a white dial online.

Roger Chaffee (Appolo 1 astronaut who tragically died in a capsule fire along with Edit White and Gus Grissom) owned one of these (below).  NASA has it on display at the Kennedy Space Center.

Im pleased to see mine looks nearly identical to his above.  I own this photo, as I took it on a visit this past summer.

  • 3 weeks later...

Just wanted to give an update on the overhaul status of my antique bounty. By the numbers,  In total,  I acquired 21 watches at that show. 15 of which were Timex's. Only the pocket watch and the West end watch required no mechanical servicing. Everything else required a full service. The top row of watches will require parts or there are other significant issues.  3 in the top row are in fact Timex's , one only needs general servicing,  one needs parts ands one suffered from my ham handedness!

11 out of 15 Timex's are 100% with a 13th soon to be added. One of the 15 Timex's runs like a dream,  I just need a case and stem.

Not to be a shill for  Timex, but damn! Their simplicity and robust design have turned them into impressive timekeepers. All in all im impressed with them and very happy with the watches I've acquired. Next Saturday is the 3rd antique show.  If I get anything, I'll be sure to share.
