Omega 565 Friction spring.

Thank you for your advise! After reviewing my question: I can see that I did not fully explain the situation.  I damaged the friction spring during the seconds hand install. Which brings me to this situation: the need to replace it and if I need to oil it. Will 9010 be sufficient for the friction spring?

Hi Bernard  After straightening the spring to it origional profile Put it back on the movement snf check the tension inas much as it is sufficient to hold the pinion in place with the sweep hand installed just a tiny drop of oil on the pinion bearing point , the last thing you want is oil on the loose.

Was the spring broken or just bent , if bent it will straighten, and rembember to support it during the hand installation.

The friction spring got damaged when I was installing the seconds hand. I did not know at the time the omega 565 has an indirect seconds and my over forcing it is what caused the issue. The friction spring has an indentation from the pinion being pressed against it.

Having a dimple in the spring doesn’t generally matter. What matters is that you get the amount of friction correct. If it’s really concave then squeeze between tweezers. It should drop the amplitude somewhere in the vague region of 10 degrees when fitted.
