MIlitary watches are always popular, and you have to beware of buying pigs in pokes. There's a current vogue for "Officers trench watches from WW1", which are often not what they appear. Caveat emptor.

 

Anyway, this is the real deal - a US Waltham military pocket watch from 1943 in its original case, and in pretty good nick. Dials for these are often in poor condition, but this one has survived well - as has the case back with its markings. The movement's OK, but there's a missing spring on the balance cock which, oddly enough, doesn't seem to affect the working - but I'll get it done someday...
