Which part do I order?

Hi All

I'm a beginner. I have a Bifora 115/1 in need of a complete balance (wheel and hairspring).  The US supplier, J Borel doesn't have Bifora.  Cousins lists these parts and I can't tell which is the correct one. I asked Cousins but their response was generic.

Under 115.1 they list the following.  What is the difference between "shockproof" and "ordinary & shockproof"?   Any suggestions on part to order??  Pic of balance below.

Your is shockproof. I would take my chances and order the p/n on top. I'm not sure the mov't is worth purchasing the bottom one, I suppose you may get a good complete donor watch for what they're charging.

The problem is that the description for part number 115 723 is incorrect.

Swiss part number 721 is for the balance complete. modified with the ".1" to indicate shock protection.

Swiss part number 723 is for the balance staff only.

If you order 115 723 you will just get a balance staff, you need 115 721.1 balance complete, shockproof. The £49.95 (+vat and shipping) option. As @jdm says, you may be better off looking for a donor movement on eBay (other auction sites are available).......

Many thanks Marc!  Yes, not worth the cost.  Cousins wasn't very helpful at all in their form letter response.

I've already imported one donor from the UK.  The balance pivot was worn.  At this point I'll move on to the next beginner victim.

They have always been helpful to me. If you ask if that part is indeed balance complete or staff only they will check and answer, and update description if the latter. It is not their interest that someone orders something and receives something else.

Ebay just listed a balance that MAY be the correct one???  It's listed as "Barbell - Balance (721 -11, 1/2 ") CR29NR1699 Bidlingmaier Bifora 115".  Here https://www.ebay.com/itm/223933585018?ul_noapp=true  Does this look like the correct part?

I'm not able to make any hairspring adjustments without complete failure.

Thank you

Charlie
