I've had a soft spot for Mondia watches for quite a long time now.

I had a couple of Timex watches when I was at school which I never had too much respect for (I know better now) but my first "real" watch, with jewels and everything, was a Mondia Sea Scout. It was my 16th birthday present from my parents and I still have it (maybe a future post), and it kind of established a loyalty to the brand. I have looked out for them ever since but they don't show up too often at my kind of price range. This one did though.

Again, a non-runner that just needed servicing to get it running again, and a clean up and crystal.

It's an AS (ST) 1686 movement in an all stainless steel case and I'm guessing from the late 60's or early 70's.

Curiously enough both the movement and the inside case back are signed Baylor watch Co.

I've not been able to find out much about the link between Baylor and Mondia so if anyone can shed any light it would be appreciated.
