Elgin 702 Ladies watch

I've worked on a few.  They go together just like they came apart.  Oiling:  Light oil on all wheels except center wheel.  No oil on pallet pivots, D5 on the center wheel pivots and the barrel arbor.

 

As for assembly, start from a known point (say the escape wheel) and puzzled your way towards completion.  Its not too hard to figure out the wheel placement.

Just curious; what is or what is meant by "fleabay"? I Googled it and found https://fleabay.net/ but under the category "Jewelry & Watches" I only found three items; a pair of earrings, a bracelet, and a woman's watch. Perhaps it is a synonym for shopping used stuff online!? Thanks!

Sorry, I can't. I have sworn to an inner circle of initiated to never revel the secret magic place where one can get any watch part. Pretty much like unobtanium, it can be mentioned, but never achieved :biggrin:.

The expressions "you can pick them up pretty cheaply off fleabay" in my ears sounded like it possibly could be a reference to a specific site like eBay, so that's why I wanted to ask about it. I now understand that it was simply a reference to flea markets on the Internet in general. English isn't my native language so that may have contributed to my confusion. As a bonus, your bumptious contributions to the WRT culture was sort of funny (but not that funny).

I'm guessing Australian slang for eBay. Then the eBay is the place where you can pick up almost everything sooner or later if you're patient and know how to search for things or you just stumble across it by accident. A lot of times unfortunately the sellers sell things in assortments and won't describe, Or don't describe what they're selling. Sometimes that's outstanding for the buyer but it's a pain in the ass If you're looking for scrap movements and they don't have a description.

      Hi everybody,  My trade is a jeweller but I'm looking to learn more about watches. I do basic bits and pieces to watches like changing glasses, strap repairs and hand repairs but would like to upskill and learn a lot more and thought this would be the best place to do that.

      I looked at it like this, I've built a lot of stuff in my time, building structures and furniture,those are my creations and they will still be here way way after I'm gone. Traditional watchmakers felt the need to pass their knowledge on, ideas that they created . I assume with them as it is with me, leaving their mark on the earth, a way of being remembered. This creation of Mark's has brought thousands of people together to pass their knowledge around,  ideas that will continue to be used for lifetimes. Ideas that should continue to be procured. If for whatever reason the forum ceased to exist, not quite like Ranfft's, that didn't disappear but much less usable. Then that is sad, such a massive loss of communication between good people and a wealth of knowledge lost. There should be something in place for when that happens which could be next week, next year or in 10 years. Might not be a topical subject for a lot of folk or boardering on controversy, i did say i talk about stuff other people dont. But if you dont talk about it and something happens then you've lost it and you ain't gonna fix it .

      I've remained silent on this thread, and at the risk of upsetting everyone, the thing that worries me the most the the apparent absence of Mark. The moderators do a great job and the members also pitch in, and the site seems to run itself, but it is a concern for the future of this forum when the owner is absent for all intents and purposes. Like many of the comments above I would hate to log in one day and things be closed down as I rely on this site for ideas and knowledge and also cheer me up. maybe the Moderators could reach out to him, assuming he does not read this thread, and express our concerns and let us know the plans going forward? some kind of WRT ark
