Tweezers

Being a keen fly fisherman and fly tier, (see, you just knew I love mucking about with fine work and fiddly stuff), I use one of these for my fly tying tools, and I have another one I use for my tweezers (as a surgeon, though, I just have to call them forceps), punches, screwdrivers, and all sorts of miscellaneous tools and a couple of bottles.

The block is made of foam, and won't damage the forceps. The brand shown is what I have, but they can be about $30. At many tackle shops that deal in fly fishing and tying, you may find cheaper generic brand ones for about $10. But weighed against the cost of good tools, it's a good investment.  I store them points down in the foam block on my desk that is set up for dual purposes - fly tying and now watch fiddling/learning :)

Hi Bob - the foam block is 40cm x 24cm x 4cm. That's not huge, it has numerous wells, and fits nicely in the corner of the desk.

Also, the foam is easy to penetrate, so I keep a couple of sharp #11 scalpel blades (the pointy ones, like hobby knives) and several pointed cocktail sticks stuck straight into the foam, in the one I use for fly-tying.

Thank you Pete, I was looking for something to have my tweezers more "at hand" considering my "watchmaker desk" is small. I use a portable one in one corner of the room, next to my computer and printer...kind of giving watches their own space.

Cheers,

Bob
