Crown size query

Recommended Posts

I am wondering what sort of crown might fit this watch case. In the past someone has done a “lovely” job of sticking a big blob of solder on. The case tube diameter is 4mm and the length of the pipe where I think the stem screw in is also about 4mm. I haven’t tried to separate the stem from the crown yet. I’ve had a look about but can’t seem to see anything to fit a case tube of that size. While cleaning the case I dug out what I thought was gunge from the inside of the tube, turned out it was a cork gasket. I doubt I’m going to be able to replace it sadly.

Any ideas chaps?

Those crown are a little special . There is a gasket in the tube instead of the crown. Not sure what they are called. maybe you can use a normal crown that you take the gasket out from. I will see if i find any so i can show you how it looks.

Hi dave,  Do not remove or file the tube. A crown to fit over the tube is all you need.

I cut a seal to fit inside the crown, thats your water sealer,   insulated electric wires covers are normaly suitable to cut a seal out of.

Cheers OH. I’ve looked through those but none that I can find go up to 4mm case tube diameter. Is that size quite rare?

OH shows the right type, you just need the right size. The O ring inside can be cut out electric wire insulation, for an old one. Cousins may not have those, but not rare.
