Meylan Stopwatch Info Request

Recommended Posts

I honestly just wanted to know how much it would cost me to fix my meylan stopwatch no. 214 if I were to send it to meylan to fix. I feel i should because on the inside the bezel case said to. And if I choose to send it to meylan then do i just send it or can I set up something online because on meylan's website I can't find anything about repairs or my stopwatch in particular. If you can help with some answers I would greatly appreciate it.

This is a watch repair forum but we can't guess repair estimates especially for something less common than watches and not knowing what is the problem.

I suggest that you search Google for a stopwatch repair specialist, or contact the manufacturer. Alternatively you can use an association directory e.g. NHI in the UK or AWCI in the US to locate some and ask if they take that type of repair.

From what little I can gather, the stopwatch you are asking about is a mechanical Swiss movement stopwatch, similar to this.

Most competent watchmakers should be able to fix it, assuming they can source suitable parts where required and assuming the manufacturer no longer fixes them, or their costs are too high,  or if they fail respond to your inquiry.

As to the cost... Well given the age of the stop watch, it may not be economically viable to fix it.

They are going for  $20 and upwards on ebay, and I suspect most watch makers will do very little for under $50, so it becomes a matter of finding out what is wrong with it, and what the stopwatch is worth to you, and basing your judgement on that.

Obviously if it is of sentimental value, then you may be willing to spend a little more on it.

You could of course attempt to fix it yourself, if you feel you have the skills, or are willing to learn.
