Lubricating a new movement.

Recommended Posts

Hello

I have a new 2824 clone movement and I need some advice please. Should I strip, clean and lubricate this movement before assembling it into the watch case? Would this be a standard practice for all movements or just clones? How can I tell if a new movement requires servicing?

Thanks in advance for any help that can be provided.

If not oiled a new movement runs accurate for a couple of days, excessive wear is inevitable though.

Interestingly, a weak of runing in fresh oil insures even lubricant distribution, good practice if the piece is to be stored in ones collection.

I would take better care of non clone, geniune pieces.

Experience is knowledge, at this point however, good amplitude on timegrapher gives an idea of lubrication, under high magnification, one may see if the oil is in fluid state.
