Ebay again

This is listed as a Skeleton Clock. It is nothing of the sort. It looks like a movement that has been taken out of its case and covered with a dome. The movement is not that good it has an open mainspring and a cheap platform.

Here is a proper Skeleton Clock timepiece with passing strike. Passing strike means it strikes 1 on  the hour every hour.

The E-bay one has quite a useless bevel gear, for some reason, the rest looks solidly made, wonder what it came from?

I couldn't help but laugh out loud when I saw the listing.

I saw that and thought to myself 'sticking a cheap movement under a dome does not a skeleton clock make. There's another seller who has done a similar thing but has removed a lot of the frame. it looks nice but not a skeleton. I think he refers to it as a skeleton style clock and is charging a heck of a price.

I want to see someone try and wind it up with that big T-bar winder without smashing their knuckles into the base.

I also wonder if the spring rubs on the base when the clock is wound down.

I think I will pass on this one.

Ebay is great for a laugh sometimes.  I imagine this is what the seller will be thinking in about ten days time, "Hmmm... 'Skeleton' didn't work. I guess I'll try relisting it as 'Steam Punk'"

I wonder how long before the spring rubs the shaft just above it, maybe 2 days, also the Smiths dial has the winding holes bogged up, if you were going to add a different dial surly you would get one with just a centre hole in it. He also has a ventriloquists dummy for sale, I am thinking it is a selfie.

If he adds 'barn find' to the description, that makes it worth more, he's missing out.
