I don't think it was made before 1644 when Australia was discovered.

You are right, however the date was 1606, and a few others landed here before Cook actually mapped the east coast, the thing is that until it was mapped was it actually discovered or just a bit of land somewhere in the southern ocean.

Okay, I made a bit of time to get this project moving forward, it may take me a year at this rate. I had to get another cylinder as the original had all the pins bent. As you would expect nothing fits, therefore I had to bush the new cylinder to fit the shaft. I also had time to polish the fly and rebush it. A note, I added a photo of getting it level for those new to clock repair (horizontal and vertical) as these are long pins and if off a bit forget about them working smoothly.

I will fit the comb later as the old cast base plate was broken and they glued it together so I have to weld it before i can work on getting it all together. No the old comb has those teeth missing and as i said it will not be used. I can see a few issues that will also need addressing, like I doubt if it will work correctly with the way they had the fly set up, to me it looks like to many gears and to far apart, look at earlier photos to see it. As most said I am Mad, however I am also determined to fix it.

I don't think you are mad, but you are pretty close! :D it didn't cost an arm and a leg, you will fix it and give it the beauty treatment. It will be a nice clock for little money. Also it will teach you much, no I don't think you are mad.
