Howard Pocket Watch

Recommended Posts

Need some info on the balance staff for an E. Howard pocket watch movement, Series 7, Model 1912, 12s, 17j.  I have one for which the staff is missing.  Either want to purchase one or get the dimensions so I can make one.  Are there any other staffs which are interchangeable with it?  Thanks, Doug!

I just received one of these that belongs to my stepfather that I'm about to tear down and try to get running. I can get back with measurements when I can (won't be very soon I'm afraid, a few weeks maybe until I get to it).

Meantime here is a place to start: http://www.ofrei.com/page323.html

Also, a quick search just came up with this: http://www.darlor-watch.com/wrist_watches_1.html

Might be worth giving them a call.

Cheers,

Herb

The staff should be a Howard #560, providing it is a friction-fit staff. Otherwise it might be a 561, which appears to be riveted. The dimensions for the #560 should be 4.00L/.45mm hairspring shoulder/.50--.76mm for two-piece double roller/.10 mm pivot. Let me know if you need dimensions for the riveted style.

Good luck.

Thanks MrRoundel!  Mine is a friction fit, double roller.  So I'm looking for a #560.  Thanks, again.  Doug
