Sessions Click Spring

Hi

I have a Sessions Clock in my shop that is missing a click spring on the time winding arbour. I made one from some stiff wire but I now see that the small hole where the spring fits into the click is broken so it won't hold it in place. I'm wondering if there is some kind of glue I could use to keep it in place. This is the only thing wrong with the clock.

Thank you

Dave

I really don't wish to be disparaging but I would really have a problem with that as a repair, how firmly attached is the bolt, it looks like it would only be a matter of time and it would work lose possibly resulting in injury to anyone winding it.

The below article shows how it is best done

You’re not the first one to make such a comment.

I used to teach so I’m afraid I’ve made my share of disparaging comments in my day.

All comments are welcome and thank you for sharing the link. I’m certainly willing to do it a better way. That’s the whole point of this blog, n’est-ce pas?

So what the click springs on this clock are a click with the spring coming directly out of the back that spring is then bent around the click and passed through a notch on the wheel to provide tension and keep the click engaged. The click is riveted in place.

If you read the link provided these clicks are available ready made

You would have to remove the rivet from the old broken click and rivet a new one in its place to make a sound repair of this clock.
