How to get my clock running again?

Recommended Posts

HI,

I have a Zaanse clock (one with 2 weigths).
It stops running after a minute or so.
To fix it I took the clock work apart and cleaned everything en polished as much as possible. Also bought TSL oil for lubrication.
In order to be able to see how it works I mounted it on a piece of wood which can be hung on the wall.
See the pictures below (you see the back there).

Does anyone have an idea to get this clock running again?

Regards Hans

As clockboy says it probably needs to be put in beat. First, make sure it is level, if it is out of beat, you will need to bend the crutch wire here (red arrow) If the clock doesn’t have an even tick it is out of beat. Just make sure to bend the crutch the right way. My master use to say to me if it sounds as if it has a wooden leg it is out of beat.

Thanks.

I assume that I have to bend it to the left or to the right. Correct?

Seen a couple of youtube videos. But perhaps not the right ones.

I'll try again.

Hi,

If I hang the clock about 3 degrees (clock wise) off it keeps ticking.

So probably I need to bend the crutch anti clock wise. Is that correct?

Your clock is what we say out of beat. Bending the crutch can solve that. Some clock movements have the crutch friction tight to the pallets and a good swing and the clock will find its correct poistion and put its self in beat. What type of clock is it?
